Chung Mong-Gyu, the current president of the K-League and the chairman of Busan I’Park, has reportedly decided to run for the next Korea Football Association (KFA) president election.

As the current KFA president Cho Choong-Yun announced he would not run for re-election, Chung Mong-Gyu has been pointed out as a possible candidate. The 50 year old has been the current CEO of Hyundai Development Company (HDC), also working as a chairman for HDC-owned Busan I’Park. He was elected as the ninth president of the K-League in 2011 and his achievement in settling down the relegation system, establishing a professional second division and handling the match-fixing scandal has been praised by many.

As Hyundai family has been very influential in the KFA, Chung Mong-Gyu seems to be a leading candidate.
