The 26 year old joined Suwon before 2011 season after a successful spell at Gyeongnam FC. He made a great impact in the 2011 Asian Cup, but failed to continue his form after joining Suwon.

Recently, he was the target of controversy as he refused to do Suwon’s traditional post-match ceremony. After winning a game, Suwon players traditionally walk to in front of the supporters and give three cheers together, but he refused to do so in the last several games. Ever since, he has been criticized by Suwon fans for lacking enthusiasm and attachment to the club.
